Today was the first day of spring break, a fine day to get out in search of fun new experiences, tastes, sights and of course….inspiration. We had such an amazing time exploring the Downtown LA area on our recent Six Taste tour that we quickly decided to go back for more.
If you are considering a trip to LA, a destination wedding or just a well-deserved vacation, I invite you to put our downtown area at the top of your list. It was a picture perfect day, and our most incredible find became the colors of spring. Have you ever seen a prettier shade of sky blue?
The Dim Sum lunch at Ocean Seafood in Chinatown fortified us for the rest of the afternoon. Here is our first tip – leave some room for the treats at Bottega Louie – they taste as great as they look! More on this in a moment.
At Merilyn Aickin Boutique on Spring Street, we discovered stunning scarves made of wool flowers. Another tip – check out these beauties for an unexpected accent for your bridal party. Mix and match different colors for extra pizzazz!
Our next stop was the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM). We had our hearts set on visiting the FIDM Museum, but sadly, the museum was closed. We still managed to find the most amazing color and texture combination, in a most surprising form of all, the human form. Little did we know that Vlada was the perfect match to the macarons that we would find next! It turns out that Vlada Sugarandspice does make up and hair. Do you dare to be different with lots of spring color?
Bottega Louie is the Downtown revival at its best – restaurant, bar and marketplace, it offers something wonderful morning, day and night. From the delicate chocolate Easter bunnies to the insane assortment of macarons in every imaginable color, Bottega Louie is a dazzling experience. What fantastic spring colors and flavors!
Perch is a new restaurant, literally perched at the top of an office building overlooking Pershing Square. From up there, we spied the malachite in the grassy area below. Ah…. the view!
So, if you’ve been laboring over color swatches and ribbons, trying to decide on a color combination for your wedding, our suggestion is that you go for a walk and find your own color inspiration in the most unexpected places. Have fun!
