Find of the Moment: Japanese Washi Tape from HappyTape for DIY Wedding Projects

Thanks to Intimate Weddings for introducing us to washi tape!  Bet you’ve seen it without realizing that Washi comes from wa meaning Japanese and shi meaning paper, and the term is used to describe paper made by hand in the traditional manner, often from tree bark fibers.  Very cool and organic!

HappyTape - Japanese Washi Tape in Spring Colors

Because it’s so easy to work with – cut, shape and attach – it’s a wonderful resource for DIY wedding projects.  Our favorite is HappyTape.  Wait till you see all the choices, colors and patterns!  So much great inspiration.   Here is what we are thinking:  washi tape on……..

  • old-style milk bottles as table numbers
  • linens for extra burst of color
  • invitation envelopes and save the date cards
  • plain light fixtures and lamp shades
  • glass vases
  • mirrors

The idea of washi tape on old books to create interesting table numbers is brilliant.  We can’t wait to explore and see what else we can come up with.  Happy washi taping!
