If the 79+ creative versions of the martini is not enough to attract you to this West Hollywood gem, then perhaps the extensive menu of eclectic American comfort food will, or the fact that Lola’s stays open until 2 am and keeps the kitchen open for those that get hungry late.
Being in the service industry myself, I expect a great deal when it comes to service. So, what impressed me is that every person that we came in contact with on a recent visit to Lola’s on a busy Friday night was friendly, engaged and interested in making our time at Lola’s as enjoyable as possible. Their attitude is all about being flexible, thinking outside the box and helping people enjoy themselves. I’ll toast to that!
And toast we did – Larisa’s favorite was the Cucumber Martini (cool and refreshing, not too sweet and with a mighty kick) and I really enjoyed the unusual flavor of the Cantaloupe Martini. We learned that the bartenders create mixes from fresh fruit and use all natural ingredients to infuse in their famous drinks. And then we sampled the best that Lola’s menu has to offer – Baked Artichoke and Parmesan Crusted Halibut were our favorite.
It was a treat to chat with the Executive Chef, Reagan Moore. It was so obvious how much Reagan loves to create amazing food, so we put him on the spot and asked what he would create right now. He came up with braised salmon and avocado pinwheel with cilantro couscous and a Tabasco buerre blanc sauce, on a bed of heirloom tomatoes. Then Reagan explained that he was inspired by a Tabasco contest and challenged himself to use Tabasco in a culinary creative way. With a deconstructed nod to the salsa, he created a spicy sauce that has amazed everyone who’s tasted it so far. If you are lucky, the new inspired dish just may appear on the special menu next time you visit Lola’s.
Wedding planning tip: put Lola’s on your list….from a late night outing to celebrate your engagement, to Sunday brunch for your bridal shower, Bachelorette/Bachelor party and a fun-filled casual rehearsal dinner. Lola’s will also do off-site catering, so throw down your own challenge to the chef, Reagan Moore and enjoy the fruits of his creativity.
